Proposed Needs
Highway Safety
The northbound off-ramp movements at Exits 1, 3, and 5; and more specifically Exit 5 experiences vehicular crashes in excess of similar roadways on the mainline through the southbound off-ramp, and northbound acceleration lane movements.
Mobility
Speeding occurs throughout the day in the southbound direction within the area of Exit 1. Daily and intermittent congestion is most prevalent in the northbound direction within the area of Exit 1.
Land Use and Access
Traffic volumes will continue to increase at Exits 1, 3, and 5 due to additional warehouse and distribution facility development. Exit 3 currently lacks direct access to I-81 Southbound from US 11 Northbound.
Highway Infrastructure
The existing pavement and structures were constructed in the 1960s and are approaching the end of their serviceable life span.
